The Optimistic Future of Programmatic Email List Growth

by Rob Massa, May 26, 2015 – Back in the day, email was strictly a communications tool for academic and business purposes. But it quickly became a solution for personal communication among friends and family, and continues to grow in its use and usefulness.

Early in the lifecycle of email, smart marketers realized that email marketing presented a number of benefits over traditional snail-mail direct marketing. Email was (and still is) a powerful way to communicate with customers and drive sales to the bottom line. It can also be easily tracked and personalized, and continues to be a less expensive, greener alternative to direct mail.

Best Practices: Four Tips for Carly Fiorina (or Anyone) to Handle Email Marketing Right

How to Avoid List Atrophy and Other Email Troubles

by Opt-Intelligence, May 12, 2015 – Campaigning season is off to a roaring start, and it seems as though someone steps up to the plate with a bid for the presidency almost every day. So as we all gear up for the TV ads, billboards, Facebook posts, debates and more, it is surprisingly clear that one of the latest candidates may have some troubles with her existing email list. Carly Fiorina -- a household name in Silicon Valley and the world of printer technology -- may be faced with some challenges as she preps her campaign and begins reaching out for donors using her existing email list.

CNN reported on her announcement and in the article quoted Marty Wilson, an executive VP at the California Chamber of Commerce, who managed Fiorina's 2010 Senate campaign. He said that one potential obstacle for Fiorina will be her efforts to build up a national donor base when she hasn't had to raise money for a political campaign since 2010: "She's a very talented candidate and connects well with voters. The problem is after 2010 she was no longer a candidate. So mail lists and email lists tend to atrophy when they're not in use."

So here are a few tips for Ms. Fiorina -- and anyone else preparing an email campaign -- as she preps her platform, prepares her messaging and heads out onto the email campaign trail.

The Evolution of Email — Proof and Promise

by Opt-Intelligence, May 5, 2015 – Since the beginning of online advertising, promising new formats—like pop ups, expandable banners, video, social media, native and mobile—have captured and held the industry's attention and dollars. Many of these formats have delivered and become trusted elements of the media mix. At the same time, these newcomers have often overshadowed email and cast it as a dying player in the digital marketing game. Savoring Geotargeting's Effects

Traditions 118 restaurant enjoys an 18% conversion with local display offers.

by Jason Compton, April 29, 2015 – Traditions 118 had a problem that wasn't linked to the price of lobster or even the ample competition in the eatery market. Put simply, its mailing list was slowly passing its freshness date.

Owner Michael Lubic started the restaurant's mailing list in 2010—six years after opening the restaurant—because it offered a cost-effective way to communicate news and offers to regular customers. But he never hit upon a consistent method to attract and retain subscribers, so attrition was taking its toll and eroding the size of the list.

LazBro and Opt-Intelligence Partner to Launch Email List Growth Tool For IBM Silverpop Users

"Grow My List" Enables Marketers to Grow Lists and Deploy Emails Quickly and Efficiently

NEW YORK, February 26, 2015 – LazBro, Inc., a full-service digital marketing agency and technology company, and Opt-Intelligence (OI), the leading email list growth provider, today announced Grow My List, a new product that enables IBM Silverpop customers to more effectively grow and manage their email subscriber databases via an opt-in advertising media buying module, enabling marketers to send targeted email communications to individuals engaging with the brand for the first time.

The new feature combines OI's roots in email list growth services and LazBro's Email Playground Platform, a tool that allows non-technical team members to create and schedule emails to send from the Silverpop platform. With the addition of the Grow My List tool to Email Playground, Silverpop customers are now empowered to grow their lists at regional or national levels, a model that can be especially beneficial to franchise-based organizations.

"New email subscribers are a key component of successful digital marketing programs," said Loren McDonald, Vice President of Industry Relations at Silverpop, an IBM company. "It's imperative that databases do not remain stagnant, as new subscriptions can result in new revenue. Prior to acquiring an individual's email address, marketers are limited in ways they can interact with an audience. By offering new ways for prospective customers to subscribe – opposed to the something like the traditional newsletter sign-up – individuals interested in a brand are more likely to engage. The way customers and prospects interact with businesses has changed, so the way marketers engage should shift as well."

"Email Playground is especially useful for organizations with distributed workforces or franchisees that want to allow their teams to independently manage their local and regional marketing efforts," said Jennifer Lazarus, CMO of LazBro. "The Grow My List module allows corporate marketing departments to empower their franchisees by providing a tool for managing their local and regional media buying." For more information visit www.emailplayground.com.

OI enables technology partners and email service providers to offer advanced email list growth capability directly to their clients. The OI API includes ad creation and offer tools, auto responder welcome emails, plus detailed reporting and data transfer for new subscribers.

"Opt-Intelligence helps business of all sizes seeking ways to add scale to their email marketing efforts," said Joe Broumand, Opt-Intelligence’s CEO. "As marketing departments continue to become de-siloed, it's necessary for teams to leverage ways to work more collaboratively."

"As the producer of more than 40 home show events across North America, it is critical for us to find new ways to extend our reach and expand our audience," said Joanne Curry, Digital Marketing Director at Marketplace Events. "The Grow My List feature will help use more effectively reach our demographic using Opt-Intelligence's email subscriber acquisition, allowing us to deliver even more targeted and individualized email communications via the Silverpop platform."

Lead-Gen Platform From LazBro, Opt-Intelligence Aimed At IBM Silverpop Clients

by Laurie Sullivan, February 26, 2015 – The barrage of emails in consumer in-boxes force many to press the delete button after reading the subject line. LazBro and Opt-Intelligence dubbed the feature Grow My List. The companies describe it as an "email list growth tool." It sits in LazBro's Email Playground platform. New York (February 10, 2015) – Opt-Intelligence (OI), the leading email list growth provider, today announced the launch of the OI API, a new tool designed for email service providers (ESPs) to offer list growth and acquisition for email marketers. The company is also announcing integration with MailChimp, an email platform that supports more than 7 million users worldwide, sending 10 billion emails per month. Branded LeadServe for MailChimp, the platform displays opt-in invitations to targeted consumers on hundreds of participating websites and mobile apps.

“Email service providers are excellent at providing streamlined, user-friendly email delivery tools that keep consumers informed and help to drive purchase decision making,” said Joe Broumand, CEO of Opt-Intelligence. “The OI API allows ESPs to easily integrate a valuable list growth feature into an already existing interface. “LeadServe for MailChimp offers users the ability to add subscribers directly from their organization’s online advertisements,” said Tom Davis, Partnerships Coordinator at MailChimp. “Users can connect LeadServe with their MailChimp account, select their desired geographic or demographic targeting, and LeadServe displays a signup invitation to targeted visitors on websites within their network. It's really that simple and we are excited to have this integration available to our users.”

Key features of the OI API give ESPs the power to offer the following resources for email marketers:

  • Ad Creation and Offer Tools – The OI API makes it easy for email marketers to upload an image and create an interactive ad that will drive consumers to opt in to the marketer’s email list
  • Auto Responder and Welcome Email – The OI API offers email marketers the ability to automatically send a welcome email to new list subscribers with either template email copy or customized copy that can be created by the email marketer.
  • Detailed Reporting – This feature gives developers the ability to integrate reporting so that clients can see how many emails they have acquired, their average daily budget and the total amount of money spent.
  • Data Transfer – One of the key OI differentiators is the ability to automatically integrate new subscribers into an email service provider’s platform. The process is simple for both the developer and the email marketer and provides a level of service unmatched by other technologies.

LeadServe for MailChimp clients reach potential opt-in subscribers based on customized geographic and demographic targeting. There’s no set-up or monthly fee; customers only pay a small fee when a new user subscribes. For a limited time, LeadServe for MailChimp is offering MailChimp users their first $25 worth of subscribers for free. More details can be found at MailChimp.com.
